Safety Tips

1. Choose routes according to your physical and technical skills, researching the area to visit, the accessibility of the trails, and equipping yourself with appropriate hiking maps.
2. Provide clothing and equipment suitable for the commitment and length of the hike and bring in your backpack the necessary items for possible emergency situations and a first aid kit.
3. It is advisable not to undertake mountain hikes alone. In any case, tell someone the itinerary you plan to follow, informing them of your return.
4. Check the weather forecast and constantly observe the weather development.
5. When in doubt, turn back. Sometimes it is better to give up rather than find yourself in difficulty due to bad weather or having tackled difficulties beyond your own strength, skills, or equipment.
6. Avoid unnecessarily leaving the path and taking shortcuts.
7. All listed routes develop in a natural environment. Hiking them means accepting the risk of practicing a sport in nature.

Attention! The path between Bocca Saval and Rifugio Pernici is very narrow and requires particular caution.

From the parking lot, reach the mountain hut by following the dirt road. Continue to the right and take the senter dele vache (SAT 435). Shortly before reaching Bocca Saval, take the unnumbered path that leads to the Carèt cross. Continue along the path up to Monte Tomeabrù. Return towards Carèt, but instead of returning to the cross, take the path on the right that descends to Malga Saval. Continue towards Bocca Saval and take the SAT 413 path that leads to Rifugio Pernici. From the hut, follow the path to Bocca di Trat and descend towards the mountain hut and the parking lot on the dirt road.

The Ledro Valley is connected to Riva del Garda by the extra-urban bus line 214 (Riva-Valle di Ledro-Storo). Bus stop: Lenzumo.

Brenner Motorway A22, Rovereto Sud exit - Lake Garda. SS240 of the Ledro Valley to Bezzecca where you turn towards the Val Concei. From the town of Lenzumo, follow the signs for Rifugio Nino Pernici. Continue on the paved road (then dirt) that ascends the mountain flank up to the parking lot.

Parking near Malga Trat.

Mountain hikes require specific clothing and equipment. Even on relatively short and easy outings, it is always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unexpected events such as, for example, a sudden storm or a drop in energy.

What to bring for a mountain trek?

In the backpack (for a day hike, a 25/30L pack is usually recommended) it is good to bring:

• water bottle (1L)
• snack (for example, dried fruit or chocolate)
• first aid kit
• windbreaker jacket
• a fleece sweater
• spare t-shirt and socks (preferably sealed in a plastic bag)
• wear or at least carry in the backpack a pair of long trousers
• hat
• sunscreen
• sunglasses
• gloves
• whistle to be found in case of emergency

Wear footwear suitable for the route and the season. The trail surface may be uneven or rough, and a pair of boots will protect you from sprains. A grassy slope, a rock slab, or a steep path, if wet, can become dangerous without adequate footwear.
